I usually send these pictures to my cousin and we joke about them. I figured Oppo would enjoy them too.
I guess no one here knows how to stop at red lights.
Having driven a Semi I can kind of cut this guy a little slack.
The lady driving this Challenger was not on her phone or anything, I guess she just thought this was an appropriate distance.
This was almost peak Southern Illinois (it would have been peak Southern Illinois if I could have seen people committing incest while not stopping at the line)
I took both of these at the same light, there wasn’t a car next to the Toyota/in front of the Nissan.
Am I wrong? Are they wrong? The universe may never know.

Saw this person in the Suburban last night, stopped well short of the line. They refused to look at me when I looked at them for a long while making the hand gesture of “Look at all this room you left”
Bonus Caliber stopped IN the crosswalk.

Here in Florida that is too far back to trigger the sensors. The light will never turn green.

Where I live, the lights for smaller streets crossing arterials are usually triggered by sensors, and if you stop this far back you will never trigger it. I have honked at morons in front of me who don’t understand this only for them to point at the light and gesticulate angrily as if I they thought I was telling them to run the red. No, fuckwit, I’m hoping to have this light turn green before we both die of old age.

Yes, most of the lights I get stopped at during the day seem to take forever, I don’t know if there is a daytime pattern like they automatically turn after a certain amount of time. It seems like it though.
I think at night they will switch with less cars to compensate for less traffic, me being the only car at the line seems to work at night. During the day though it seems to take forever.
Or, the seething rage I feel at stoplights is clouding my judgement

How often do you see it? I am not exaggerating when I 80% of the time when I am stopped at lights at least one car won’t be at the line.

I am done honking, I honked at someone one day and they blew through the light and almost caused a wreck. It wouldn’t be my fault, but I would hate to play a part in someone’s death even if they can’t drive worth a damn.
Ireally want to start parallel parking in between people and the line though. Like “Look stupid, I can fit in between you and the line. UNFUCK YOURSELF!!!!”

The only thing I can think of in their defense is that oncoming traffic making left turns NEVER stay outside of the lines where they belong. People seem to often cut the turn incorrectly and end up driving through the wrong lane. This always worries me when stopping at an intersection, that I will get hit by one of those idiots. I only really get bothered by people who stop past the line since they are likely to get hit by the other idiots and I dont really want to get hit by their flying parts. Stopping ahead of it is of no harm unless there are sensors that do not get tripped by doing so.

Mrs. blackcar and I were out running errands one day and we counted, I don’t remember the exact number of lights we got stuck at it was around 25, I do remember the percentage was 91% though.

Yo, hold up. My entire extended family lives in Marion and Johnston City! And judging by the post you made a year ago when you bought the truck, you live[d] REAL close to my uncle...

Here in Virginia they often do the opposite and pull entirely ahead. There’s one place where the turn lane is stepped back so trucks can turn off the ramp. Guess what? Some schmuck is fully ahead of the line and the car behind is right on thier ass.

Haha, no kidding. That’s funny, how close to your uncle? I only talk to about 2 people that live by me so I probably don’t know him.

It is indefensible, it seems like the light usually take forever during the day like the sensor isn’t triggering and the lights just cycle automatically, but at night they seem to take less time like there is an expectation of less traffic so one car being at the line is enough to trigger them. I could be completely wrong though.

I think the biggest point against them is that they are driving automatics so inching forward is stupid easy anyways. At least in a manual once I stop for a light, I really do not want to move forward regardless if traffic inches forward or if I stopped short a little bit.

You have no idea. Watching a light turn green, 19 seconds later it turns red as the first vehicle is struggling to go through a gap that it should be easily able to.

Driving across Southern Illinois on the way to the Indy 500 was both the most police officers waiting to write folks tickets and most pot holes I’ve ever seen on an extended stretch of interstate.

I went there for one semester before I figured out I was homesick and I didn’t want to major in biology.

The roads here are so bad it’s ridiculous. The state is so broke, they can barely take care of anything. That being said they might be legalizing weed to pay off everything, that’s good I guess.

I have thought about changing my major so many times... I am really thinking about trying to get my doctorate in history part-time once I graduate and get a job. I think it would be cool just have my doctorate even if I never get a job related to it.

Even worse was the 55mph speed limit. That is rough for any extended period for folks from the land of 80mph speed limits.

We probably aren’t moving back, Midwest cost of living has spoiled us. We are probably moving to Indianapolis after I graduate in May.

The only redeeming qualities of Southern Hellinois is SIU/Carbondale, exploring the Shawnee Forest and the wine trail.

SIU/Carbondale is questionable, I got into an argument with a professor on Tuesday who told a student to Google how to do something in our homework. I think most of the professors are getting salty because the university’s days are probably numbered.
Shawnee Forest and Giant City are pretty awesome though. I haven’t done any of the wine trail stuff.
